Does everything really have to be awesome? Jul 22 11

Over the years, I have spent an awful amount of time working on projects that ended up being ditched. Admittedly, most of these projects were me trying to create something that goes blows the minds of the masses and goes immediately viral. I tried too hard to be awesome.

More recently, I’ve been asking myself if everything really has to be all that impressive. When you think about how many people are working on projects right now that will likely never see the light of day for the same reason as my projects, you start to wonder if the real impressive thing about your project is the fact that you launched it. Starting a new project from scratch and building it up into something functional and stable is not an easy task, and maybe seeing people use your creation is awesome enough.

My main point is to get out there and build, build, build. Reiterate, revamp, re-whatever, but at least get something out the door. And for Pete’s sake, don’t be afraid to launch your project because you’re afraid of the reactions you get. Stand behind your product and generate lots of hype – we have the tools to do just that.

Let’s see your work this year. Get to work!
